Ancient Ciutyt of Dali, Yun nan, China looking west down wall

We welcome students at all levels of ability. Master Xuan Yun himself teaches all of the classes at our school. We traditionally hold one class in the morning and one class in the afternoon. Although most students say it isn't necessary, translation for English-speaking only students can be easily provided.

Master Xiao at Dali East Gate

Classes are held on the top level of the East Gate of Dali's ancient city walls, which provides a beautiful view of the mountains and old town. All classes begin with stretching. Tai Ji students practice standing meditation and work on the 108 move form. Students practicing Kung Fu learn traditional forms and practice using individual moves. Class size varies as the number of students studying with us changes week by week. Private instruction is also available for those who wish to study an unusual form or a specific weapon. These include sword, saber, whip, staff, and horse-tail whisk. Taiji sword is slow and meditative, while Kung Fu sword is fierce.

The horse-tail whisk is a weapon practiced exclusively by Daoist monks, and until recently, was only practiced in secret.

(Click for a recent video clip produced in Dali that shows Xuan Yun demonstrating the horse-tail whisk.)

We also provide housing if needed. We offer cozy dorms or double and single rooms. If you would like more information or have any questions please, call or e-mail.
